Customer ID

The Customer ID is an optional identifier you can freely assign per entity — e.g. “P-001”, “ER-Smith-42”, or an HR employee number.

What it’s good for

  • Recognition: Human-readable shorthand instead of UUIDs in lists.
  • CSV import: When importing from other systems, match on Customer ID instead of internal UUIDs.
  • External references: Easy to cite in documents, emails, tickets.

Rules

  • Optional per entity — you don’t have to assign one.
  • Unique per entity type within a tenant.
  • Freely chosen (digits, letters, dashes). We recommend a consistent scheme, e.g. a per-type prefix.
